Our story

Our story began long ago, in the heart of Pleșcoi village, where Nea Ticu, the oldest sausage maker in the area, carefully guarded the secrets of authentic flavour. In his small workshop, among beechwood smoke and the scent of spices, he brought the famous Pleșcoi sausages to life - made from mutton and beef, garlic, thyme and hot pepper, just as they are made here in Buzău.

From Nea Ticu's hands, the craft was passed down from father to son. Today, the third generation of sausage makers carries on the tradition under the name Băcănia lu' Nea Ticu, sharing the pure taste of Pleșcoi and the story of a family that never forgot where it came from.

Over the years, more and more visitors who came to buy our products told us the same thing:

“We would love to taste your sausages fresh, just as you make them here, at home.”

That is how Dor de Pleșcoi was born - a place where tradition is beautifully plated and authentic flavour becomes an experience. Our guests enjoy fresh dishes prepared with products from our own butcher shop, following recipes inherited and perfected within the family.

In 2023, we took another natural step and became the organisers of the Pleșcoi Sausage Festival, an annual event that welcomes more than 40,000 people eager to discover and celebrate the traditions of Buzău and Pleșcoi.

Today, Dor de Pleșcoi is more than a restaurant. It is a tribute to a legacy, a bridge between past and present, between the simplicity of times gone by and the joy of today.

Did you know?

Pleșcoi sausages are a traditional Romanian product from Pleșcoi village, Berca commune, Buzău County, documented as early as the 15th century. The original recipe uses mutton, sometimes blended with beef, garlic, thyme and hot pepper, then smoked over beechwood. Since 2019, they have held EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status.
